Minnesota Birth Parents with Adoptive Parents in another State
LSS Birth Parent Full Services List:
  • Counseling – pre-placement
  • Education
  • Collection of the Social and Medical History
  • Adoption Process Planning with birth parent
  • Coordination of services with the family and the professional in the other state
  • Birth Plan
  • Cooperative Agreement Meeting with Adoptive Parents, when possible
  • Hospital and Placement Support
  • Counseling – post-placement
  • Voluntary Consent to the Adoption Signing
  • MN Father’s Adoption Registry Search
  • Prepare and monitor the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC) packet
  • Compliance with requests for additional steps from the other state

 

  
LSS Birth Parent Full Services Fees:

$3,500.00 - Birth Parent Services Fees for the standard birth parent process.

In the event additional legal services are needed in a birth parent situation, additional fees may apply, including:

  • Additional actions for a non-participating birth father
  • Court Termination of Parental Rights, when applicable
  • Indian Child Welfare Compliance Steps

$500.00 - Foster Care Fee
Most babies go directly into the adoptive home from hospital discharge. If the birth parent chooses to place the baby into an LSS foster home, this fee will apply regardless of the length of stay for the baby in the foster home.

These fees are due when the baby is in the adoptive home to stay.

LSS Adoptive Family Services Fees:

$1,000.00 - Designated Adoption Facilitation Fee.
The family will have an LSS consultant to facilitate their steps in Minnesota for this designated adoption with all involved parties. This fee is due when the family and their birth parent begin their steps with LSS.
