Ukraine Program
LSS
offers comprehensive services to prepare, facilitate and support
families through all aspects of adopting a child from Ukraine -
from the initial education through to the finalization of your
child's adoption. The orphanages in Ukraine care for infants,
older children, sibling groups and special needs children.
Adoptive families travel to
Ukraine to locate a child. There, at the National Adoption
Center in Kiev, families review profiles of children available
for adoption, travel to the orphanage to meet them, and have
time to consult with medical and other experts before making a
final commitment to a child. The court proceedings are completed
in the child’s region.
If you feel that you could
provide a loving home for a child from Ukraine, please let us
know.
The Children of
Ukraine
The children currently in need of adoption from Ukraine are
generally 2 years of age and older. Most often, they are healthy
yet can be developmentally delayed. Typically these children
begin to thrive and make rapid developmental gains once home in
their new family surroundings. However, there are children with
minor to acute health issues and special needs. These children
are usually relinquished by birth parents who lack the
sufficient means to care for them.
Adoption Requirements
- Parents must be 25-50 years of
age; no more than 45 years difference in age between child and
adoptive parents.
- Couples must be married at
least one year.
- No restrictions on other
children in the family.
- Single applicants are not
currently being accepted.
- One trip to Ukraine of 3-5
weeks is required for both parents.
